Founders Pastor Frank Wentz & Kristy Wentz
Read More... Expand
Through the years, their conservative religious views began to give way to the works of the Spirit as they began to see miraculous events take place in their lives. In 2018, Kristy was diagnosed with stage four bladder cancer. She was only given a fifteen percent chance of survival as the cancer had spread outside of her bladder and into her lymph nodes. Six months later, after chemotherapy, Kristy went through reconstructive surgery to repair the damage from the baseball sized tumor they originally found in her bladder. During reconstructive surgery, they also removed thirty-six lymph nodes for testing. The residual bladder material and the lymph nodes were sent to pathology to gauge how far the cancer had spread. Previous scans a few weeks before had shown the cancer was in the lymph nodes and was spreading throughout her body. When the report came back, the doctors were shocked. There was no cancer found anywhere. It was gone. She is a living miracle and remains cancer free to this day as a testimony to the healing power of our Savior.
In 2020, God led Frank and Kristy down an unexpected pathway into the deliverance ministry. Their adult daughter began opening doors to ungodly oppression in her life. One night she came to their house displaying strange and weird behaviors like they had never seen. At first, they thought that it may have been substance abuse, but it was not. It was demonic oppression. Having a teenage son, they would not allow their daughter to move back into their home. She went to stay with other family members who began trying to help by playing praise music and reading scripture over her. They even brought in a pastor to pray over her. None of this worked, in fact it only made things much worse. Kristy and Frank wanted desperately to help their daughter but did not know what to do. They began calling local churches in the Hampton Roads area and soon realized that from Baptist to Pentecostal, no one was equipped to help. Some churches believed in breaking demonic oppression but did not know the process. Other churches would say that Christians cannot suffer from demonic oppression, or they would advise them to read scripture and pray. None of this worked and things were becoming dramatically worse.
Kristy and Frank were praying fervently that God would show them how to break the attack on their daughter. Around a week after everything began, Frank was driving and pleading with God to show him how to help his daughter. In the middle of this, he was prompted to check YouTube and did a search on, "How to cast out a demon." The term “deliverance” popped up. He had never heard this term, but it described their situation and explained how to help set a person free of oppression with the power of Christ. Soon he was watching video after video. It described how oppression can afflict a Christian because of generational curses, unforgiveness, ungodly beliefs, and ungodly relationships. The videos explained how to break these and make the demonic oppression leave. It was the Friday night before Halloween. When Kristy came home that evening, he showed her the videos. They both began to pray and agreed that if their daughter called and asked for help, they would go and try to break the oppression. An hour later, their daughter called her dad and said, "Dad, please come help me." They packed up and left for where their daughter was staying.
They arrived at the house around 8:00pm. Their daughter was in bad shape, crying and laughing and twitching with the weight of what was on her. They sat with her and began working through the legal rights the enemy had used to gain access, having her confess sin, forgive people, and renounce ungodly agreements. Frank then looked at her and said, "I want to talk to anxiety." Her face twisted and a voice that was not quite hers said, "what do you want?" They were shocked. What they had watched in those videos was actually working. He commanded anxiety to leave in the name of Jesus, then called up depression. The same thing happened, and depression was cast out. This continued until 4:00 in the morning, anxiety and depression and suicide and rage and bitterness coming up one after another all night long. It was ugly and unorganized and completely led by the Spirit. They did not get everything that evening, but it was a start, and it was miraculous.
Their daughter moved back home, and it took weeks before their daughter was completely free. Through this process, Kristy and Frank found that they both were suffering from oppression as well. It was not life altering like their daughter’s oppression, but it was there. It was tied to unforgiveness associated with previous ministries and generational curses like freemasonry. They began reading and studying all the information they could find on the subject and began breaking oppression off each other, and then other family members. This soon led to deliverance sessions with friends. It was clumsy and difficult, but it was happening.
As God allowed them to grow in the technical aspects of deliverance, they began to see the power of God setting people free and changing lives. Luke 10:19 became very real as they saw people released of lifelong depression, anxiety, suicide, and rejection. Crazy things were being broken off like ADD, OCD, and PTSD. They saw people healed of lifelong allergies and infirmities. People were being set free of severe back problems from unforgiveness. Bowel problems and heart disease were being cured through deliverance. Cardiologist and gastrointestinal doctors would find that the infirmities had miraculously disappeared. They saw scoliosis cured and ovarian cysts drain out the instant the demonic attachment was broken. What was at first crazy and mind-blowing has now become normal and expected.
After years of personal sessions, God began shifting their focus toward something larger. The need was everywhere and the church was not equipped to meet it. Frank and Kristy sensed clearly that God was calling them out of a ministry built around doing sessions and into a ministry built around training others to do them. Finding Freedom Ministries now exists to equip individuals and establish deliverance teams inside local churches, building the kind of capacity that one couple could never create alone.
Through years of personal ministry, God allowed Frank and Kristy to develop a method rooted in the work of Derek Prince, Frank Hammond, and Don Dickerman, while incorporating the legal aspects of the spiritual realm, teaching others how to prosecute defiant demons and petition God for judgments in the middle of the deliverance process. Their vision is to see networks of local churches nationally and globally trained in deliverance and inner healing, with deliverance ministries being birthed in congregations around the world.
Their journey from fundamental Baptist to Spirit-filled has given them the ability to minister across a broad range of believers. Having experienced both sides, they understand the spiritual realm while also coming down firmly on the side of caution and discernment, knowing that the enemy will imitate the works of the Holy Spirit. Mark 16:17 tells us that the first sign of a new believer is that they will drive out demons. The enemy has buried this from our churches, but it will be resurrected.

I am married to my wonderful husband, and together we are raising and homeschooling our amazing child. As a proud Navy wife, I continue to serve as an active ombudsman even after my husband’s retirement from military service. Prior to marriage, I worked in government construction, managing multi million dollar contracts while attending Tidewater Community College, where I studied business administration and marketing.
Although I was raised in church and understood the foundations of faith, it was not until my thirties that I truly came to know Jesus Christ in a personal and transformative way. During one of the most difficult seasons of my life, I experienced brokenness, shame, and isolation. In the midst of that struggle, the Lord met me with His mercy, grace, and restoration.
After learning about the deliverance ministry and personally experiencing freedom through deliverance, my relationship with Christ deepened in a profound way. God used that experience to awaken a genuine reverence for Him and a passion to help others find freedom and healing through Jesus Christ.
Today, the Lord has called me into the deliverance ministry to help those who are in bondage, disciple individuals who are walking through struggles similar to those I once faced, and lead others into a deeper understanding of their identity in Christ. What began as a lifelong desire to help people has now become a clear calling and purpose through the work God is doing in my life.

Throughout their journey, Richard and Bertha have served as pastors in three different churches in the Austin, Texas area—two English-speaking congregations and one Spanish-speaking. Their pastoral work has always reflected their unwavering trust in God and a passion for building His
Kingdom.
As they learned to live by faith and depend on God's promises rather than circumstances, they witnessed His abundant provision. This walk of faith extended into their business endeavors. Over the past twenty-six years, they have watched God grow their commercial mechanical
company dramatically—beyond what they could have imagined. They invest generously in missions and the local church, seeing their business as a platform to support God's work both locally and globally.
Richard’s personal journey also included spiritual struggles. For a time, he wrestled with the belief that life in Christ offered no power over certain persistent sins. Traditional church teachings provided few answers. Burdened by this, Bertha turned to God in search of deeper understanding and guidance. Her brother, a Baptist pastor, sent her books by Don Dickerman—materials that shed light on the reality of spiritual warfare and deliverance.
After reading the books, Bertha shared them with Richard. Through them, he came to the revelation that Christians can indeed be afflicted by demonic influences, and generational curses he realized that he personally needed deliverance. This led to a powerful deliverance session, after which Richard and Bertha attended a training conference with Don Dickerman. It was there that they met Pastor Frank and Kristy Wentz of Finding Freedom Ministries—an encounter that marked the beginning of a new chapter in their ministry.
Since then, Richard and Bertha have been faithfully learning and equipping themselves to minister deliverance to others. They are now actively involved in providing deliverance sessions and spiritual support throughout the Austin, Texas area, helping others find freedom and restoration through Christ.
Their lives are a testimony to the power of walking by faith, the transformational truth of the Gospel, and the immeasurable grace of God in every season.
